Ms. Sheng studied piano with her father, who is a renowned musician in China, from the age of four, and won many prizes in both national and provincial competitions. In 1994, with a full scholarship for four years, she started studying piano at Shenyang Conservatory of Music. After graduation with B.M. in piano performance with excellence, Ms. Sheng started teaching piano as Assistant Professor at Shenyang Conservatory of Music.
After moving to US, she studied piano performance with Dr. Sarkis Baltaian and Dr. Jacqueline Petitto, and obtained her M.M. in piano performance. She has participated in master classes given by distinguished pianists like Jerome Lowenthal, Meng-Chieh Liu and Alan Chow. Ms. Sheng has given several successful concerts in LA area. She was also invited to perform either as soloist or in collaboration with some internationally well-known musicians, such as the trumpet soloist Dr. Jay Coble, the violinist Yevgen Pereplyotchyk, the flutist Ayako Maeda, and so on. In May 2005 Ms. Sheng received a second place award for “Exceptional Competence in Solo Performance” in LA.
Vicky’s Piano Studio has consistently demonstrated excellence in preparing students for esteemed international piano competitions, such as Pacific Stars International Competition, CAMPT Hornors Competition, IPPA, IAPMA, Satori, GOCAA, Royal Music Piano Competition and SYMF. Under Ms. Sheng's expert guidance, a multitude of students have achieved noteworthy success in securing first-place prizes in competitions. Notably, some students have received the distinguished honor of being invited to perform at the illustrious Carnegie Hall in New York. These achievements are a testament to the studio's commitment to excellence in nurturing musical talents.
